PEP RALLY FOR PAGES

Did you know that the percentage of kids’ reading for pleasure has steadily declined over the past two decades?. Reading now competes for children’s time with many other alluring activities, including television, social media, and video games. Donatos wants to motivate your kids to want to read all summer long!

The research is clear. Summer reading prevents summer slide—the loss of academic gains that happens to many children when they are out of school. To keep your child engaged with reading all summer long, Donatos Indianapolis has decided to make reading more fun and rewarding with PEP-RALLY FOR PAGES®.

PAGES TO PIZZA

PEP-RALLY FOR PAGES® rewards kids for the number of pages they read. Studies show pressing a child to read a certain quantity of books or the required number of minutes per week can have a detrimental effect on a child’s attitude toward reading. In contrast, encouraging recreational reading and voluntarily acknowledging the number of pages read regardless of the resource can have a positive impact on a child’s interest in reading.

Activity Sheet

Are you tracking your child’s reading this summer for school? Maybe you want a record to save. This is the activity sheet for you! Print it out, hang it on the fridge, and keep track of the titles and (number of pages) your child has read this summer and we’ll celebrate their accomplishment! If you don’t have access to a printer, we will have copies available to pick up at any of our twenty Greater Indianapolis locations (listed below), or at the Indianapolis Public Library.

Pepperoni Pizza Tracker

We encourage your child to keep track of their progress by coloring each pepperoni on the pizza according to the number of pages they've read. Once they've filled in all their pepperonis, their pizza is done. To celebrate, take it to your nearest participating central Indiana Donatos’ Pizza and we’ll swap it for one of our fresh, hot, 7-inch Donatos Individual Pepperoni or Cheese Pizzas at no charge. Only able to finish half the pizza? That’s still an accomplishment! Bring it in and we’ll swap it for a free dessert.
